Constructing a Future Building Pad
When it comes to preparing the foundation for a new structure, every inch of detail matters. For one local farmer, Bullhead Environmental was tasked with creating a future building pad while also reclaiming a borrow pit used for clay extraction. In this project, our team handled everything from sourcing quality materials, hauling and placing soil, to compacting over 7,500 yards of clay into a durable, level pad, all while restoring the landscape back to its original state.

Scope of Work
The goal was to develop a reliable building pad for a future structure while reclaiming the borrow pit created during the process. The scope of work included:
Sourcing Materials: Procuring the right clay and soil materials needed for long-lasting compaction.
Hauling & Placement: Efficiently loading, transporting, and accurately placing soil across the project site.
Borrow Pit Development: Excavating a borrow pit to supply the clay, ensuring that the site’s integrity wasn’t compromised.
Compaction & Leveling: Placing and compacting 7,500 yards of clay to form a stable future building pad.
Land Reclamation: Returning the borrow pit area to a natural state after completion, ensuring that the surrounding land was restored to a safe and functional condition.
Project Execution
Our experienced crew mobilized to the site and quickly got to work. The process began with the excavation of the borrow pit using heavy-duty equipment including a Hitachi ZX300LC Excavator, CAT D6R Dozer, Komatsu 30 Ton Rock Truck. Once the clay was extracted, our team worked diligently to load, haul, and accurately place the material onto the designated pad area.
Using modern equipment and experienced operators, the soil was compacted to ensure a level, solid base for the future structure. After the pad was established, attention turned back to the borrow pit. With careful planning, we reclaimed the pit, blending the reclaimed area back into the surrounding landscape.
The Results
Future Building Pad: A solid, well-compacted pad ready for the upcoming construction.
Reclaimed Borrow Pit: The pit area was restored to a safe and usable condition, supporting the overall integrity of the site.
Materials Moved: Over 7,500 yards of clay were loaded, hauled, placed, and compacted, highlighting our commitment to both efficiency and quality.
