Roadway Grading & Gravel Surface Reconditioning Project

Project Overview

This roadway grading and surface reconditioning project was completed in Central Alberta, near Hardisty, using our new CAT Power Rake and skid steer attachment setup. The goal of the project was to restore the roadway surface, improve drivability, and leave behind a smoother, more evenly graded finish.

Over time, gravel roadways and access roads can develop rough spots, washboarding, uneven gravel distribution, potholes, and buildup of rocks and debris. Using the CAT Power Rake allowed our crew to break up compacted material, redistribute gravel evenly across the roadway, and smooth out the driving surface efficiently and accurately.

The power rake also helped separate rocks and debris from the finished surface while conditioning the roadway for a cleaner and more professional result. This type of equipment is ideal for gravel driveway repair, roadway maintenance, yard site preparation, reclamation work, and final grading applications.

Equipment Used

This project was completed using our CAT Power Rake attachment paired with a skid steer, allowing for precise grading, efficient material control, and high-quality surface finishing. The addition of this equipment to our fleet allows us to complete roadway and grading projects more efficiently while delivering consistent results.

Project Results

The completed roadway provided a smoother driving surface, improved gravel distribution, reduced washboarding, and a cleaner overall finish. Proper grading and surface conditioning also help improve drainage and extend the life of gravel roadways and access routes.
